The Pan
Arab Hypertension Society is organizing its Third International
Conference in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. following the success of the
previous two conferences in Cairo and Lebanon, the Gulf area
will host this important scientific event for the first time.
The Organizing Committee has prepared an excellent scientific
program, with contributions from a large number of world experts,
and with the support of distinguished International Societies
and Organizations. This conference is possibly the most important
scientific event in the area concerning the field of hypertension.
It will be a special occasion for the exchange of scientific
information, promoting, research, helping in physicians education
of hypertension in the Arab World.
Results
from the Egyptian National Hypertension Project (NHP), which
was the first national hypertension survey in an Arab country,
showed that hypertension is a common disease in Egypt, present
in 26.3% of the population, with very low rates of awareness,
treatment, and control. It is likely that a similar situation
exists in other developing and Arab countries.
This
Conference fulfills many of the goals of our Pan Arab Hypertension
Society.
These are namely, to facilitate the dissemination of scientific
information in the field of hypertension among Arab physicians,
to provide the means to improve the care of our hypertensive
patients and to find the best approaches for prevention, diagnosis,
treatment, and control.
A common
disorder such as hypertension, with serious complications if
recognized and inadequately controlled, in addition to the still
existing gaps in our understanding of mechanisms and etiology,
should be the focus of attention of the international scientific
community. Hypertension has long been recognized as a global
health problem.
On behalf
of the Pan – Arab Hypertension Society, I invite you to participate
in the Third International Scientific Conference and look forward
to seeing you in Abu Dhabi.
