The 14TH EHS Meeting
Hypertension& CV Risk from Science to Practice
Over almost 16 months; a lot of effort was done
for this meeting that was planned and arranged to be an outstanding regional and
international event, we were looking to approach the American and European
scientific meetings standards in the ever growing field of hypertension and
cardio-vascular medicine. Eventually the meeting was held on April 7-9th 2010.
Arrangements and International Accreditation:
-
Chairpersons were from National Heart Institute, Professors Ahmed Magdy, Hany Abdel-Razek and Hany Ragy as an assignment from the Hypertension Society and the meeting was elegantly held in a capacious conference area at Fairmont Hotel in Cairo with most comfortable arrangement
-
Two parallel lecture rooms were functioning for presentations at the same time to allow more scientific material and satisfy attendees selection
-
For the 1st time in our region, a Hypertension and Cardio-Vascular meeting to be accredited by two international authorities, 18 educational credit hours from EBAC (European Board for Accreditation in Cardiology) and 22.5 credit hours from AACME (American Academy of Continuing Medical Education) in addition to 23 hours from the EGYBAC
-
Registered attendees exceeded 1500 doctors(cardiologists, internists and general practitioners), the lecture rooms were almost full during most of the lectures from 8.30 am and till after 6 pm in the evening
Features and Scientific Profile:
-
The faculty included Egyptian professors from different cardiac centers and international leaders in the cardio-vascular field and hypertension including professor Mancia (Italy, Past President European Society of Hypertension,), Marc Pohl (Cleveland Clinic, USA), Renata Cifgova (Cheek Republic, Guidelines Board of European Society of Hypertension), Roland Asmar (France, President International Arterial Health Society), Tony Heagarty (UK, President of International Hypertension Society)
-
Scientific material was variable, included the most up to date development as well as the gold standard and evidence base medicine in this field. They were discussed and simplified in lectures on the modern advances, hot topics, debates, review of recent studies, updates of guidelines, interactive presentations and challenging case presentations
-
Emphasis was put on new and growing subjects as the early vascular aging, vascular damage, arterial stiffness, arterial evaluation, advances in drug therapy, hypertension clinics, blood pressure measurement and validation as well as diagnostic tools for clinical and subclinical end organ damage.
-
According to the impression of the international faculty, the scientific standard of the meeting was equivalent to the established international hypertension meetings in western world
We hope that the meeting was a good opportunity
for updating knowledge, meeting the experts, exchange of experience and
transferring our Egyptian meetings more to the international standards.
We are proud of the trust and support we had
from Professor M. Mohsen Ibrahim and the EHS Board. We believe that the faculty
members and the big attendance contributed very much to the success of the
meeting, we also thank all members of the organizing committee, Mrs. Fathia
Al-Said (organizing company), Mrs. Rehab (conference secretary) and all our
assistants. We apologize for any pitfalls or inconvenience to any one and
looking forward to seeing you and working together in future scientific
programs.
