PORT SAID
Information About Port Said

Port Said was founded in 1860 as a harbor on the Mediterranean coast at the northern entrance of the Suez Canal. The city population is approximately 450,000 and is located 200 kilometers from Cairo. Since 1918, Port-Said was known as an international trade center due to the promotion of the world commerce which the Suez Canal realized. In 1976, Port Said was declared as a free zone where goods were imported from all over the world tax-free which adds more to the prosperity of the city and favored the interior tourism. Although Port Said is full of shopping centers selling imported goods, there are areas of special fame like the Market of International Commercial Center near the famous rock of Dc Leseps as well as El Nahda and El Gomhoria street shopping centers

Although the European style of the construction is unique in Port Said, there are several sight scenes that reflect the history of the city such as Port Said National Museum, the Military Museum, Tannis Island, Christian Monuments Port Louad and San El Hagar.

Public transportation inside Port Said is mainly through Taxicabs or Mini Buses which provide continuous and convenient service inside the city.

Human Brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) is thought to function together with human, Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) as a cardiac hormone involved in the regulator of blood pressure (BP) and maintenance of body fluid homeostasis both in normal and in hypertensives. The purpose of this work was to study the relationship between BNP and hypertension, as well as the influence of antihypertensive therapy on its release at rest and during exercise in patients (pts) with essential hypertension.

Subjects and Methods: The plasma level of BNP was measured before and after exercise in 10 normotensive subjects (control group). Thirty pts with mild to moderate essential hypertension were further sub-divided into three main groups: Group 1: 10 pts with newly discovered hypertension. Their plasma level of ANP was measured before and after instituting medical treatment. Group 11:10 untreated pts were subjected to exercise test and BNP was measured before and at peak exercise. Group III: 10 pts with their BP controlled by medical treatment. Their BNP was measured before and at peak exercise. The exercise protocol used in this study consisted of three fixed work loads on bicycle ergometer (25 watts/ 3minutes).

Our results showed that: BNP was elevated significantly in pts with essential hypertension as compared to control group (3.78 pg/ml in control group vs 8.09 in group I, 8.00 in group II and 7.26 in group II. There was also exercise induced significant increase in the BNP level in hoth control and hypertensive pts. (Table 1)

Patients Rest Peak exercise P value
Control group 3.78+0.92 4.53+1.1 < 0.001
Group II 8.00+0.96 11.76+2.5 < 0.001
Group III 7.26+1.25 8.9+1.38 < 0.001
